Baltimore-born and raised with the most normal of childhoods. I graduated from a college in Western NY state, and began to understand, during my time there, that I don't like snow showers in April, or to feel my ears burn in January as soon as my hat comes off.
I lived in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and want to go back ASAP. The third segment of Zeitgeist further examines the manner in which the three World Trade Center buildings collapsed, and seem to provide additional evidence that the the collapses were planned, rather than the result of the attacks. In addition, the failure of defense systems is shown in great detail, and again, evidence is given that indicates a conspiracy. The aftermath, and the inconsistencies of the 9/11 Commission in particular, is shown to implicate the President as involved in the conspiracy. Also, the theory of the film is shown, and we learn that the filmmakers believe the entire attack to have been a 'false flag' operation designed to manipulate public opinion.
The collapse of the World Trade Center buildings was deemed the result of fire. As was shown in the second segment, this does not seem the logical explanation. To my, albeit uneducated, eye, the collapses look like planned demolitions. The buildings collapsed in on themselves, and the presence of the molten steel, as well as the absence of standing steel beams, do seem to fit nicely into the mold of explosives and a demolition.
Next, something that has always bothered me: Why were these planes not intercepted? The United States has arguably the most advanced and effective air defense network in the world. Nowadays, I'm lucky if I can sneak a lighter onto a plane, and that makes me question the events that led to not one, not two, not three, but FOUR hijacked commercial jets, tracked accurately, escaping interception by United States fighter planes. This does not seem plausible. The film brings to light a disturbing fact as an explanation.
On the morning of September 11, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) was engaged in War Games that simulated the hijacking of commercial airliners. While I understand that drills are constantly run, events simulated, and reactions tested in the defense sector, this seems to be a stretch as a coincidence.
At some point the 'benefit of the doubt' mentality toward these events begins to break down, and things start to look bleak for the official story. The other inconsistencies I saw in the film put me in a questioning mindset, and that mindset did not accept this as a coincidence.
The 9/11 Commission was designed, 'To prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 attacks...'Unfortunately, it appears that the Commission was not only not given the power to fully investigate (thing about the President and Vice President not being under oath, and not having a transcript, and appearing together), and that there may have been a strong bias (an accusation that began years ago and continues to this day). The film claims that, in effect, the White House made the final decision, either directly or through proxies, about the content of the Commission's report. This idea does not sit well with the mission statement of the Commission...
Around the fifth minute of this segment, the thrust of the film, the point, the conclusion, begins to emerge. The claim is put forth that September 11 was a part of an ongoing series of 'False Flag' operations designed to manipulate the public through terror. This theory, and the subsequent film footage syncs up nicely with my initial feelings during the months after September of 2001.
The idea of a global terror threat, of 'Us' and 'Them,'and the resulting idea that combatting these forces was the top priority of not only the United States, but the world, was spawned, and was pushed on an already frightened public. During the years since the attacks, the entire political system has revolved around terrorism, the need for increased security, and the planning and execution of wars begun by the United States.
The paradigm of US politics has shifted. The routes that must be taken to speak in the political forum are changed and formulaic. Whether or not the official recounting of the attacks is valid, the fact remains that our political discourse has slipped into a dangerous place that does not allow for anything without consideration for the ever-present and shadowy threat of 'terrorism.'
