How many times have you sat down for the evening or maybe before you headed off to work to catch the news? Countless I’m sure as many of us rely on the news stations to tell us of the issues that we now face daily or maybe of any health crisis that we should know about. To change the angle though, how many times have you watched something on the news and thought you were trying to decipher exactly what was being said as it was almost in double talk? Something would be said that was obviously taken out of context to lessen the severity of the story. That way I guess as not to cause a panic for those who are watching.
I hate to be the one to inform you this but they aren’t so very worried about causing a panic for your sake. It would be nice if that were the case but you have to keep in mind that each and every news station is a business. Businesses have people who pay to have their ads ran and pay to have their stories told. If those stories don’t get told exactly as they want for them to then there could be some big problems. Such is the case for two investigative reporters that work, or well used to work, for the Fox News station as people who dug down deep and got the real story. That’s what I always thought of the word investigative to mean. You investigated things and sought out the truth. Apparently, so did these two. But their dictionary must have been old.
Obviously the word investigative doesn’t mean to seek the truth as it should be known, it means to seek the truth in a manner that will still have people buying products not knowing of the harms that can befall on them. The two investigative reporters used to work for Fox News. We all know who the Fox News stations are, they’re everywhere. I think I have two just with my antenna television let alone all of the big Fox stations that are displayed on all of the cable and satellite channels. All that these two investigative reporters were trying to do was air a story that they had written on the harms that can arise from growth hormones, ones that were being pushed by the large company Monsanto. The drug is Posilac and it was found to be just fine for humans to consume, or so says the FDA right? What’s odd is that the companies in
So, what these two reporters were trying to do was air a story that they had written about the harmful side effects of the Monsanto company product. The truth. Well, Fox News said that they couldn’t air the truth. They needed to revamp their story as it was too much and couldn’t be told. Now isn’t that strange? A huge company like Fox News said that they couldn’t air the truth about a potentially harmful side effect to millions of people. Now you have to wonder why. Reason, Monsanto is also a huge company. A huge company that pays millions and billions of dollars a year in advertising for their products such as NutriSweet, Equal, and Round-Up just to name a few. Well, they told Fox News that if that story aired, they would pull their advertising and threatened that some bad things could happen to Fox News. So Fox News told these reporters that they couldn’t tell the truth, they needed to tone it down. People don’t want to see or hear the word cancer, how about harmful human side effects instead? Heck, that could mean acne, gas, or any number of things. But it doesn’t cause your to panic so quickly does it?
Fox News told these reporters that if they aired the story they would be fired. Investigative reporters fired for investigating something. I’m not sure but I think that these two could have a lawsuit on their hands and so did a jury. They found Fox News to be at fault and to pay these two a hefty sum for being fired with no grounds. Justice got served in a very roundabout way. This story about Monsanto and the harms of their product did get told. Just not by Fox News but by people who were on their own and had nothing to lose. It would be wonderful if that’s the way all news stories could be written, with the best interests of the people who watch or listen to the news in mind.
